North East TV legend returns to the region to host Northumbrian Water’s Innovation Festival 2018.
Alexander Armstrong has been announced as the host for the launch of Northumbrian Water’s 2018 Innovation Festival.
The Northumberland born host of BBC’s Pointless game show, singer, and star of the Armstrong and Miller comedy series, is returning to his roots in the North East to open the water company’s hugely popular Innovation Festival this summer.
He will be coming along on Monday, July 9, to officially launch the festival and will spend the opening day with the sprint teams, finding out about their challenges and helping them get started with their sprints.
Nigel Watson, Northumbrian Water Group Information Services Director and the man behind the Innovation Festival, said: “We’re really excited and delighted that Alexander Armstrong is coming to join us for the launch of our Innovation Festival and I’m sure he’ll really help start the whole week off with a bang.
“He’s native to the North East, his family history is steeped with innovation and he’ll bring his own unique and comedic style to the opening events, which I’m sure will provide a fantastic spark of inspiration for everyone taking part in the sprint challenges.
Alexander Armstrong said: “I am really looking forward to speaking at the festival. It is always wonderful to return to the North East and I am excited to play my part in this pioneering event and to see some of the innovative projects on show”.
The NWG Innovation Festival will see major national and global companies working with innovation experts, other businesses, local universities, schools and members of the public to come up with and explore innovative ways to help change the world.
The five day event will take place at Newcastle Racecourse from 9th to 13th July, and it’s the second time the festival has ever been held, following its hugely successful launch last year.
