HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2017

LASTING IMPACT OF OUR 2017 INNOVATION FESTIVAL

We held our first NWG Innovation Festival in 2017 and as part of this we hoped to build the skills and knowledge of young people.

At the Festival we held a competition to design the “Teenager’s Bedroom of the Future”. The young people took part in a series of workshops run by our people and in partnership with +ADD Strategy and Reece Innovation to design the perfect room.

One of the winners of this competition, Jess Scott, has now been awarded a prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship, which we sponsor, after she demonstrated outstanding potential at our Festival.

Arkwright Engineering Scholarships are aimed at the most talented STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) students in UK schools and help to make sure that high potential young people retain an interest in engineering careers, like ones we offer at NWG.

As part of the scholarship Jess is also receiving mentoring from Carol Cairns, Programme Manager.

It’s fantastic that something so positive has come out of our first Innovation Festival and to see it’s had a lasting impact on one young person in particular.

We’re busy planning the 2018 Innovation Festival and we’ll share with you the date and how you can get involved shortly.
