What might our transformational asset ecosystem look like and how might we develop it?

This sprint is taking place at Newcastle Racecourse 8 - 11 July

This four day sprint is taking place at Newcastle Racecourse and may be of interest to innovators, academics, training providers, industry experts, practitioners, supply chain and people interested in transformational asset management.

NWG has proposed a transformational business plan for the five years from April 2025, delivering major service improvements for our customers and the environment. We are planning to more than double the amount we invest in building, maintaining, and operating our assets compared to the current five-year period.

Delivering a transformational programme requires transformational thinking around:

  • What we build and operate: integrating cutting edge innovations into our existing asset base, ensuring it’s fit for purpose now and in the future.
  • How we build and operate: innovating around programme and project management, using the latest methods and materials to deliver high performance, efficient results.
  • How we finance asset investment: developing innovative partnership and place-based approaches to making everyone’s money go further.
  • Who designs, builds and operates our assets: developing a diverse, multidisciplinary talent pool with both technical and soft skills needed to embrace the challenges and opportunities we all face.

Addressing any one of these areas would be challenging but we need to be joined-up, simultaneously tackling education and training, products and services, business models and processes, and policy and planning. We need to transform our asset ecosystem.
